Today we walked along the Birmingham / Fazeley Canal to the Dog and Doublet for a late lunch. I had only ever done the journey by bike before and I misjudged the time it would take on foot by some degree - my hungry (no breakfast) fiancé was a little cross when it took us over two hours to reach the pub! It was a beautiful, sunny afternoon, though, and we saw lots of wildlife including ducks, geese, rabbits, butterflies, dragonflies and pheasants. The food at the Dog and Doublet was good: homely old style pub grub served on outsize, mismatched plates with a nice selection of cask ales and cider to wash it down with.

I think I was rather well behaved since it was 4pm for my first and only meal of the day! Humph. xxx
